Introduction to otorhinolaryngology

The Academic Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Fudan University is composed of the otorhinolaryngology departments of several affiliated hospitals of Fudan University. The head of the department is Professor Zhou Liang.

The Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University is a specialized teaching hospital, as well as the only tertiary specialized hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and scientific research in China. The hospital has accommodated a large number of undergraduate internships and internship work. It is one of the awarding sites/mobile stations for the first batch of master’s, doctor’s, and postdoctoral degrees of the State Council, with otorhinolaryngology being a key discipline of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The Eye & ENT Hospital also has a key laboratory in Auditory Medicine designated by the Ministry of Health and a key facility for head and neck surgery in Shanghai. The Hospital undertakes undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral teaching tasks. All these have laid an important material and talent foundation for the undergraduate teaching of otorhinolaryngology.

In terms of undergraduate teaching, our department relies on the strength of the faculty: 11 professors, 23 chief physicians, 2 associate professors, 23 associate chief physicians, and 30 attending physicians. The instructors have all engaged in teaching work for many years, with rich professional knowledge and guidance experience.

The Academic Department of Otolaryngology was awarded the honorary title of Shanghai Excellent Course in 2007. In 2008, it won the honorary title of National Excellent Course and was among the third batch of providers of national excellent resource sharing course.
